Surrealism

“What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out.” – Alfred Hitchcock

I spend my time photographing not so much making decisions about what to photograph, but rather, deciding what not to photograph. We spend every day living the mundane, and to me, photography is an avenue to dissociate from that world, and create something tense, dramatic, and unusual

This project, completed in the summer of 2023, explores the surrealist photographic style popularized by 20th century artists like Man Ray, Dora Maar, and Claude Cahun. With each image telling its own story, this noir-adjacent style speaks to me, forcing the audience to ask questions and further interact with the work.
